You have two options once you have Parts A and B.

Let us help you choose between a Medicare Supplement and a Part D prescription drug plan

… or find out if a Medicare Advantage plan is a better fit for you.

  •  Medicare Supplement plans are standardized and can be used anywhere in the country. Put simply, a Plan G with one company is identical to a Plan G with another company.

  • Supplements are ideal for those who travel, for instance, as there are no networks or referrals needed. Flexibility is important to many on Medicare and this is the most flexible.

  • Most people who choose a Medicare Supplement plan also purchase a standalone Part D drug plan. I move my clients from one drug plan to another during the annual enrollment period if there have been changes in the drugs they take, a new pharmacy is preferrred, or the plan cost has changed and we can do better elsewhere.

  • Medicare Advantage plans are low or no cost, but include a maximum annual out of pocket amount that might have to be met during a poor health year. There are also co-pays and networks to manage.

  • Drug coverage is often built into these plans and some come with extra benefits such as vision, dental and hearing aid coverage.
